📅 Workshop 14: Paper Folding and Wellbeing | 🕚 Friday 27 February 2026, 11:00 am – 12:00 pm |📍 St Michael's Church Hall, Aughton
On 27 February 2026, we held our 14th Ageing Better with an Active Mind workshop, celebrating culture, creativity, and art through the practice of paper folding. This engaging session highlighted Chinese culture, bringing together creativity and wellbeing in a shared, social space.
Led by colleagues from the Edge Hill University Confucius Institute, the workshop introduced participants to hanfu (traditional Chinese dress) and the character “福” (fu), meaning blessing or good fortune. Through hands-on activities, participants created their own paper designs inspired by these cultural elements, combining learning with creative expression.
The session brought together art, culture, and connection. One member of the Aughton and Ormskirk u3a group shared that while she enjoys the activities, what matters most is the people and the sense of connection she feels when attending.
Together, these shared experiences support ageing well - not just individually, but as a community.
