Updated: 2 days ago

📅 Workshop 13: Song, Memory and Wellbeing | 🕚 Friday 23 January 2026, 11:00 am – 12:00 pm |📍 St Michael's Church Hall, Aughton

On 23 January 2026, we held our 13th Ageing Better with an Active Mind workshop. Led by Karen Ludke, Senior Lecturer at Edge Hill University, the workshop explored the role of music across the lifespan. Through discussion, participants considered the origins of music, its importance for the brain, and how it supports memory, emotional wellbeing, and social connection.

The session highlighted something fundamental: music is not just entertainment. It is part of how we learn, remember, and connect throughout our lives.

Thank you to everyone who took part and shared their reflections. These social and creative moments matter. As we age, it’s not just stimulation we need, but shared experiences that keep us connected.

Sometimes, ageing well begins very simply - with a song.
