Co-creation with the community to promote healthy ageing and behavioural change within communities

Ageing better with an active mind is an exciting project focused on fundamental health issues confronting our society. This project was created to address the disconnection between national advice on healthy ageing and practice in Lancashire and Merseyside where the elderly population with dementia is higher than the national average.

How is this project addressing this issue?

Our project addresses this issue by  promoting behavioural change within communities targeting population older than 60 years old.

This project also includes the collection of data on mental health and the experience of ageing.

Along with University of the third age (u3a)

we will launch three workshops that will feature relevant themes and present new research including neuroscience, brain health, and the active mind.

Showcase Event

The healthy brain Showcase event  was launched on Saturday 11th of February in The Arts Centre in Edge Hill University to conclude the Ageing Better with an Active Mind project.

The aim of the Showcase event was to summarise the findings of the workshop series and to gather everyone together to celebrate healthy ageing.

The event counted with talks from professionals of the neuroscience and public health sector. To finalise the event, the guests enjoyed dance performances that included acrobatic dances, line dancing, tap dancing and much more.

The event was also supported by different local charities and organisations such as The Brain Charity, Whisc, Age UK Lancashire and The Confucius Institute that shared information and services and even craft activities!
