📅 Workshop 12: Creative Writing and Wellbeing | 🕚 Friday 21 November 2025, 11:00 am – 12:00 pm |📍 St Michael's Church Hall, Aughton
On 21 November 2025, we held our 12th Ageing Better with an Active Mind workshop, exploring the relationship between creative writing and wellbeing. This engaging session invited participants to reflect, write, and connect through storytelling.
Led by Liverpool-based author Emma Morgan, the workshop focused on the theme of home. Through guided and free-writing exercises, participants revisited childhood memories, relationships with parents, places they have lived, and moments shared with children and grandchildren. Drawing naturally on the five senses, their writing brought memories vividly to life, showing how creativity can support memory, identity, and emotional wellbeing.
The workshop was thoughtfully organised by Nicola van Rijsbergen, supported by Luiza Quinn, and co-created between Edge Hill University’s Department of Psychology and Aughton & Ormskirk’s u3a health and wellbeing group.
